About Us
East
Meadow Upholsterers was established in 1952 by Louis and
Ruth Ferrari (My In-laws). My name is Michael Shannon. I
grew up in Wantagh in the Forest City section. I come from a
family of Local 3 electricians. I graduated from Macarthur
High School in 1978 and have an associates degree in
automotive technology from SUNY Farmingdale.
I’ve been
in the trade since 1982 when I asked my in-laws to teach me.
Before that, I was an alignment specialist for cars in
Uniondale. I liked the upholstery trade better, because I
felt that I could become “an expert” at it .
In 1988, my in-laws retired and handed me the business. With no
prior business experience, I sell and upholster like I would for myself. I am very proud of my work and
I like the
way people talk highly of it. I’ve prided myself in doing
what’s necessary to make the job complete and always give my
customers
the best custom job they can afford! I don’t nickel and
dime people when it comes to the quality of the work. All
repairs and rebuilding are included in the work. I’ve learned over the
years that if you use the best “ingredients” the job looks
better and my reputation always remain intact.
I
always employ the best craftsman to complete my shop's work,
because I'm usually the one to deliver it. With years of
experience and fabrics to match all projects, our expertise
is worth the expense! And why not check our reputation?
Should mean something, especially if it's custom made!
